The volume is dedicated to the publication of one of the most important archaeological excavations conducted in recent years in the city of Bologna. The investigations, recently completed, have returned a stratigraphic sequence that covers significant historical periods (from the Villanovan age to the medieval period) and returns a complex and articulated picture of the frequentation of a part of the territory still densely urbanized today. The preliminary edition of two other important archaeological excavations, those of via Capramozza and viale Aldini, completed almost simultaneously with the intervention of via D'Azeglio and located a short distance from this, completes the cognitive picture. The volume closes with an intervention in which an initial assessment of the excavations, conducted in Bologna in recent years, which have touched the archaeological deposits of the pre-Roman age, enriching the general framework of the ancient felsina, still based on the great synthesis work produced by Antonio Zannoni at the end of the XNUMXth century.
