Volume 30 of «Archeologia e Calcolatori»Opens with a special insert dedicated to the journal's thirtieth anniversary. The introductions by F. Djindjian and P. Moscati, which outline a picture of archaeological computer science in its development, are followed by articles by the members of the Editorial Committee, to testify the research and experimentation activity that characterized the editorial journey of the journal, and the contribution of a young graduate of Bocconi University, who worked closely with the team of «Archeologia e Calcolatori". In the central part the articles proposed annually by the authors are published. A picture emerges that represents the most qualifying applicative aspects of archaeological informatics (databases, GIS, statistical analysis, multimedia systems), but which today looks with increasing interest at the tools for scientific visualization and communication of knowledge. . The volume closes with the Proceedings of the XII ArcheoFOSS Workshop (Free, Libre and Open Source Software and Open Format in archaeological research processes), a commendable initiative, born in 2006, which has been given space several times in the pages of the journal.
