Description

The issue 34.2, 2023 of Archeologia e Calcolatori is dedicated to the memory of Lea Frosioni Ariani, one of the protagonists of the birth and editorial development of the journal within Edizioni All’Insegna del Giglio. The volume opens with a text focused on the application of Machine Learning techniques on the articles of Archeologia e Calcolatori published between 2011 and 2020, in order to enhance the contribution of computational archeology in the broader interdisciplinary domain of Heritage Science, as well as to highlight the heuristic and predictive role of different Artificial Intelligence techniques to obtain diversified access to analysis and interpretation of the data. The issue is full of contributions that address the application of increasingly sophisticated data analysis and management technologies in the definition of models of settlement systems, in the integration of statistical tools, in the virtual reconstruction of contexts and monuments. The volume closes with the usual space dedicated to reviews, with a focus on the large and complex sector of Digital Humanities and on the current and delicate debate regarding the limit of use of images of public cultural heritage.
