Born from the experience of an international seminar promoted by the School in 2018, with the involvement of scholars from French universities and Italian archival institutes, together with researchers from the Polytechnic of Turin, the volume expands and re-discusses the topics then addressed, also involving specialists and postgraduates . The dialogue on frontier issues related to the conservation of the architectural and artistic heritage, with cross-cutting gazes between the exploration of archival sources and construction, transformation or restoration sites, signals the inseparability between knowledge of the factory, the city and the territory and programs intervention. The strongly interdisciplinary approach reappears strongly in the cases dealt with, divided into two sections, the historical site and its archives, and the restoration site and its archives, but in fact in more than one situation with a fruitful critical interweaving and with themes on horseback. between knowledge and restoration. There is no shortage of explorations that go from the single asset to the urban and even territorial context, showing at the same time the variety, richness and indispensability of the archive as a reservoir of memory and operational tool capable of guiding intervention choices.
