Description

THERE. he carried out a philological research on the manufacture of pottery in Catrosse in Cortona, owned by the Venuti family, which can be placed between the end of the 655th and the beginning of the XNUMXth century. The study made it possible to ascertain the identity of once anonymous objects through the discovery of new materials, such as excavated finds and XNUMX plaster molds. In addition to the various shapes of tableware for the canteen, also flower vases, devotional objects (plaques, holy water fonts ...), fireplaces, candlesticks, desk sets, garden sculptures, etc. are examined. The research has also brought to light a flourishing production of small bas-reliefs for the decoration of vases in the neoclassical style, which represent a testimony of Wedgwood's influence and bring the Catrosse manufacture within the European framework of the production of pottery. THERE. it also analyzes the difficulties of manufacturing in the production of these products. The volume is accompanied by extensive color iconographic documentation and a chapter dedicated to archive sources with photos of the documents
