Description
The volume includes a new edition, updated and integrated with the data emerging from the completion of the investigations and restoration interventions, of the materials found in the Etruscan necropolis of the 'Galoppatoio' near Castelfranco Emilia and is in close proximity to the first publication on the same theme (2001) in which the first discoveries were presented. The complete discussion of the materials, both of the necropolis and of all those of the Villanovan period, largely unpublished, preserved in the deposit of the Civic Museum, is accompanied by a complex analysis on the presence and the Etruscan population of the area west of felsina, which clarifies the times and methods of the occupation of Emilia by the civilization of Etruria. The study of the available materials and the analysis of the new findings are thus composed within a detailed and innovative historiographical framework which, starting from the specific case of the Etruscan necropolis, extends to the understanding of the more general dynamics of the Etruscan presence in the region.
