Technical Information
The monumental Genoese fortress, superimposed on the area of the ancient city of Savona, on the Priamàr hill, contains a thousand-year historical story. The guide, starting from the history of the ancient city, which is followed by that of the military structure, focuses on the demanding archaeological research that has allowed us to reconstruct the entire chronological sequence. Ample space is dedicated to the visit, in stages, of the entire monumental complex and the Archaeological and City Museum, a visit that is also extended to the basement of the fortress through the text by R. Massucco, while M. Brunetti and G. Cirone pause on the plant and animal species present on the high ground. A summary in English accompanies the various chapters.
