The volume collects the Proceedings of the Conference promoted in 1999 by the Provincial Administration of Biella and the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Piedmont. The studies presented deepen, according to different but converging perspectives, be they archaeological or historical documentary, the knowledge on productive realities and on cultural and socio-economic aspects of the Piedmont region in the XNUMXth-XNUMXth centuries. A highly articulated picture emerges, of ceramic productions of high artistic quality, made according to original models as in the factories of Asti, Turin, Castellamonte, which operated in competition with the centers of southern Piedmont and in particular Mondovì, or mediated through the transfer of workers from the Ligurian area as in the case of Cassine. Of particular importance are the productions of popular ceramics from the Biella area, known from documents as “bielline” and spread through vast commercial networks to the Swiss and Lombard markets.
Proceedings of the Conference on ceramic production centers in Piedmont (17th-1999th centuries) held in Biella on April XNUMX, XNUMX, as part of the "First week for culture" of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and the "VIII Forum for the cultural heritage of the Province of Biella ".
