In the territory of the ancient capital of the Western Empire, along connecting routes between the plain and the main Alpine passes, there are numerous attestations of centers of power, fiscal properties, large monasteries and powerful gifts Longobards and Franks. Based on the new data and interpretations and through the comparison with other Italian contexts, the fourth edition of the Incontri per l'Archeologia barbarica proposes a reflection on the structures of early medieval power in the Milan area.
