Technical Information
Andrea D'Agostino's book on the IIB house in the Hellenistic-Roman Quarter is the third in the series of volumes published thanks to the "Gregorio di Agrigento" prize, established by the Archaeological and Landscape Park of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento and attributed to a thesis by degree, specialization or doctorate on archeology or landscape of the valley of the temples. The 2017 award went to a research on the Hellenistic-Roman Quarter, an archaeological area on which research and, consequently, discoveries have multiplied in recent years, which have considerably enriched the framework of knowledge on the residential district of the Roman city. In the context of this resumption of studies on the district, an important role is played by the re-examination of the documentation relating to the excavations conducted in the 50s by Pietro Griffo and Ernesto De Miro and by the reinterpretation of the individual domus, also in the light of the finds found then.
The volume is a further contribution to a better knowledge of the history of the ancient city and stands out for its accuracy of analysis and methodological correctness.
