Proceedings of the Conference on the Late Antique Adriatic held in Brescia (Santa Giulia) from 11 to 13 October 2001. The basin of the Adriatic Sea assumed a fundamental importance in the period that saw the dissolution of the Roman imperial unity and the genesis of a new pluricentric world, in which ethnic and political facts split the previous integration and established different forms of territorial aggregation and economic and cultural communication. The problems brought into focus by a consolidated and illustrious tradition of studies are enriched and renewed by new objects of investigation and by comparison with other geo-historic areas.
