The international conference "The pile dwellings: research, conservation, enhancement" was promoted by the Civic Archaeological Museum "G. Rambotti "(Municipality of Desenzano del Garda), the Archaeological Museum of Valle Sabbia (Municipality of Gavardo) and the Municipality of Polpenazze del Garda as part of the project" The pile dwellings of the Garda area, second project of study and enhancement of some complexes Lombard palafitticoli ”, co-financed by the Lombardy Region through regional contributions for interventions to enhance the Lombard archaeological heritage (2008 call). The initiative was carried out between 6 and 8 October 2011 in Desenzano del Garda and offered the opportunity to address the theme of pile dwellings, contexts of extraordinary importance for archaeological research, especially for the quantity and quality of the materials. organic brought to light, at the same time also very fragile. Now we finally come to the publication of the Acts, financed through Law no. 77/2006 on the protection and use of Italian UNESCO sites, which open a new series dedicated to studies on sites in a European wet environment.
