The volume presents the results of the excavations carried out in Borgo Fornovo on the occasion of building activities connected with an urban redevelopment project of the area. An introductory chapter that briefly exposes the history and urban development of Parma between the Roman and early Middle Ages is the indispensable premise for understanding the data that emerged from the survey. The area appears in the period between the first century. BC and III AD characterized above all by the presence of production plants (furnaces for the production of ceramics and other minor craft activities). A first phase of partial abandonment between the third and fourth centuries AD is followed by a reoccupation in the Lombard period and a definitive abandonment of the area up to the present day.
