Description

The oldest history of the Po Delta has a new home. In 2017 he inaugurated the Delta Antico Museum in Comacchio, in the evocative seat of the eighteenth-century Hospital of the Sick, completely restored. It is the result of a long and exciting journey, which returns the signs of its past to a territory, through an engaging and interactive setting. The guide to the museum summarizes, in an agile and discursive guise, all the innovations that emerged from the unique landscape of the Delta: from the evolution of the environment to the first signs of human presence, from the splendors of the Etruscan period to the Roman and medieval period. A rich photographic apparatus illustrates the salient points of the museum: the remains of the city of Spina and the reconstruction of its rich necropolis, the exceptional cargo of a ship from the Augustan age, and the remains of the first Comacchio.
