The volume publishes the proceedings of the Study Days dedicated to the Villanovan center of Verucchio, organized in April 2011 by the Municipality and the Superintendency Archeologia dell’Emilia Romagna and constitutes an important stage in a course of study and research which began in 1992 with the “Verucchio Project”. This Project, focused on the analysis of sepulchral contexts and on the study of material culture, experienced a new season starting from 2005. The new excavation campaigns, organized from 2005 to 2009, thus inaugurated a new phase for archaeological knowledge. of the Villanovan center and given a great stimulus to studies and scientific research. The amount of data recovered, in addition to increasing the already considerable number of tombs attested in the Lippi necropolis, has allowed us to reflect on the documentation of the excavations of the past, asking new questions and consequently seeking new answers and reflections, not limited to the context of culture material, but also to the reconstruction of funeral rituals and the dynamics of society linked to male and female characters of rank.
