Description

During the excavation campaign carried out in 1982 in the castle of Scarlino, a storage room was found containing one hundred gold coins (datable to the XNUMXth century) from the most important Italian mints (Florence, Venice, Milan, Rome, etc.), but there are also examples of Hungarian ticks. All the pieces are accurately reproduced and described in the volume. The uniqueness of the discovery appears all the more relevant if we consider that most of the known treasures are the result of more or less fortunate recomposition, almost always followed by random discoveries, while in this case it is the result of an archaeological excavation conducted with scientificity and precise methodology capable of correlating the history of money with the political and economic history of a territory.
